Bartram's Mile Fishing Pier

During the planning phase of the Bartram's Mile trail segment, the City of Philadelphia and its partners held a series of public meetings in order to determine what neighbors and trail users would like to get out of the space. One of the ideas that came out of those meeting was to repurpose one of the industrial piers along Bartram's Mile for recreational use.  After extensive planning and fundraising, the pier near the trail access point at 49th Street and Botanic Avenue was transformed into the pier pictured above.

Check out this short video of the original pier being inspected by Urban Engineers as part of the Feasibility Study.

Pier rehabilitation funding was provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration through the PA Department of Environmental Protection, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, PA Department of Community and Economic Development, William Penn Foundation, Knight Foundation, McLean Contributionship, Connelly Foundation, Poor Richard's Charitable Trust, and an anonymous donor.
