Capital Projects Update

Schuylkill Crossing at Grays Ferry
Work is progressing on the new fender system and the two approach spans. The existing center river pier awaits the new turning mechanism that will allow the new truss bridge to swing open for tall river traffic. The photo above shows Grays Ferry Crescent on the east (left) side and Bartram’s Mile on the west (right) side of the river. In mid-2020 this long-awaited crossing will allow trail users to easily make this connection.

This project is in final design with the design team still hopeful of a Spring 2020 Bid Opening. The completed project will certainly become a new Philadelphia landmark and finally connect the upper and lower river trails and parks.
