South to Christian

The South to Christian trail and greenway is almost ready for our trail users. The last plaza is completed except for the railing along the river’s edge. The installation of the irrigation water line is nearing completion. Once these items are done, a general clean-up of the site will be performed by the contractor (JPC) and we will have a “soft opening” to allow access from the Boardwalk and the CHOP Bridge. A formal ribbon-cutting will take place in early spring, when weather is more favorable.

Schuylkill Crossing at Grays Ferry

Bids were received for the new Schuylkill Crossing at Grays Ferry Crescent on December 7th, with a low bid of $15M by AP Construction. Bids are currently being evaluated. It is hoped that construction of this exciting project will start in March.

Christian to Crescent Connector

Design of the Christian to Crescent Connector by AECOM is proceeding. It is proposed that the cable-stayed portion of the structure will be a single plane of stays with a weave cable pattern (pictured below). The remainder of the trail segment will be approach spans similar to the Boardwalk, and a bridge over the railroad connecting to the Grays Ferry neighborhood that will be similar to the bridge at Schuylkill River Park.
