PennDOT Chestnut St. Bridge Rehabilitation Project: Public Meeting Today!

PennDOT has started work on the rehabilitation of Chestnut Street and Schuylkill Avenue structures. This project is scheduled to be completed in November 2020 and will result in various road and trail closures and detours. PennDOT is including the restoration of the bulkhead under the Chestnut Street Bridge in order to address the existing sinkhole on Schuylkill Banks. The intersection of Schuylkill Avenue and Walnut Street will be reconfigured to make it more pedestrian friendly. PennDOT is also including a new pergola at the top of the Chestnut Street pedestrian ramp to the trail (pictured).

PennDOT will be holding a Public Meeting today, September 20, to review construction and sequencing plans:
