Exploring Our Urban Watershed

Join us at Fairmount Water Works to learn about life in a drop of river water, how plants help keep the river clean, and what you can do to protect the Schuylkill River, which is also a drinking water source for Philadelphians. After a brief lunch break (bring your own), we will hike down Schuylkill Banks to the Walnut Street Dock where we will get out on the river in kayaks with Hidden River Outfitters.

This program is geared towards families. Minimum age is 12 years old. All participants must sign a kayak waiver, and participants aged 12-18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will need to sign the minor’s kayak waiver. Download the kayak waiver here.
