Volunteer of the Month: Ed Cyr

For most people, winter is a time to hunker down and hibernate. But February’s Volunteer of the Month wanted to be active and give back. Ed Cyr reached out to us in December with interest in helping out on the Banks. A retired US History teacher living in Rittenhouse Square, Ed used the trail to run and walk his dog. He became fascinated by the history of the Schuylkill, and wanted to learn more.

Throughout the winter, Ed researched the lower tidal Schuylkill, digging up some fascinating historical information that will be a great help when we make interpretive signage for future trail segments. He also did some literal digging, helping our staff with weekly trail maintenance and cleanups. Ed is most excited for warmer weather and summer programming, especially kayaking (we can’t blame him).

Thanks for helping us make it through the long, cold winter, Ed!
