Sharing Schuylkill Banks

With an average of more than 33,000 user trips per week, the Schuylkill Banks trail and greenway can get packed, especially during rush hour, lunchtime, on weekends and during events.  For your own safety and the safety of other trail users, please keep the following guidelines in mind when using the trail:

Be aware of your surroundings

Keep your earbud volume low so you can hear what is going on around you.  Look before you pass so you do not step or cycle into the path of someone passing you.

Be courteous

Stay to the right of the trail, unless you are trying to pass another trail user.  Pet owners should keep their pets on a short lease. When using the trail with young children, please make sure they are not lingering on the trail in the way of other trail users.  Walk your bicycle on all ramps and railroad crossings. Slow down when the trail is crowded.

Share the trail

If you decide to stop, please move off the pavement, so you are not blocking the trail. If you are part of a large group, be mindful of how much of the trail space your group is using – always make sure there is enough room for others to pass around you.

Respect the trail

Throw all litter in designated trash cans. Pick up after your pet.  Lock bicycles to bike racks located along the trail.

Trail Safety

Call 911 in an emergency situation and provide the dispatcher with the help locator number found on the yellow and black Emergency Help Locator stickers posted on light posts along the trail. For all other non-emergency situations (e.g. trail light outages), call or submit your information through Philly311

Thank you for doing your part!
