Record your bike routes with the new Cycle Philly App
Philadelphians take thousands of bike trips a day, but the vast majority of these trips go unrecorded. Information about where, when, and why people are riding would help planners design better streets and fill major trail gaps.
In an effort to collect such data, a group of volunteer Code for Philly developers have created Cycle Philly, a mobile app that lets you record your bike routes. Cycle Philly is a collaboration between Code for Philly, DVRPC, SEPTA, the City of Philadelphia, and the Bicycle Coalition.
All you have to do is open the app and hit “start” before you ride, then hit “stop” and enter the purpose of your trip (commute, recreation, etc.) once you reach your destination. The app then collects this information and adds it to a comprehensive map. The Cycle Philly app is out of beta and available for download for Apple and Android. Click here for more info.
