Ask DVRPC to make trails a priority

The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) is currently accepting public comments on its upcoming transportation capital budget, known as the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). This budget details which transportation projects will receive federal, state, and local funding over the next four years.

The Circuit Coalition has been urging DVRPC to include more funding for the regional trail network; the draft TIP does include nine trail projects, but they come to only 0.9% of the total draft budget. This is a great start, but there are many other trail projects that will need funding over the next several years.

DVRPC will continue to accept public comment on the TIP through June 30, 2014. Please take a moment to let them know that you support funding the regional trail network by clicking here, selecting your county, and submitting the form.

One important project that we'd ask you to support is the Schuylkill Swing Bridge (Project No. 102274). This important river crossing near Grays Ferry Avenue has been promised state funding, but it needs to be included on the TIP for this to happen. Please write to support the project and all other trail projects that will benefit you.
