17th Annual Philly Fun Fishing Fest Results!
The 17th Annual Philly Fun Fishing Fest, held on Schuylkill Banks on Saturday, September 10 was a ton of fun thanks to the Philadelphia Water Department, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, PA Fish and Boat Commission, and the 150 anglers that participated in the event! Experienced anglers and first-timers alike gathered along the sunny riverbank to compete for largest fish, smallest fish, and most fish caught. Participants won prizes, including deluxe tackle boxes from Flambeau Outdoors and gift certificates to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
245 fish from 12 different species were caught and released, including 113 White Perch, 71 Channel Catfish, 26 Perch, 12 Blue Gill, 10 Sunfish, 3 Spot, 3 Flathead Catfish, 2 Largemouth Bass, 1 Yellow Perch, 1 Freshwater Drum, 1 Crappie, and 1 tiny American Shad.
JJ Miller, the angler who caught the largest fish last year, caught the largest fish this year - a 35.5" Flathead Catfish!
