The 15th Annual Philly Fun Fishing Fest, held on Schuylkill Banks on Saturday, September 7 was a ton of fun thanks to the Philadelphia Water Department, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, PA Fish and Boat Commission, and the 112 anglers that participated in the event!  Experienced anglers and first-timers alike gathered along the sunny riverbank to compete for largest fish, smallest fish, and most fish caught. Participants won prizes, including deluxe tackle boxes from Flambeau Outdoors and gift certificates to Dick’s Sporting Goods.

250 fish from 11 different species were caught (and released), including American Shad, Blue Gill, White Perch, Yellow Perch, Blue Back Herring, Spot, Striped Bass, Crappie, Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish, and American eel. One participant hooked a 35 pound Flathead Catfish and another participant hooked a three-inch American Shad (pictured below). It was great to see so many healthy fish in the river!
