10th Annual Fish Fest a "Reel" Success
The 10th Annual Philly Fun Fishing Fest, held on Schuylkill Banks on Saturday, September 6, was a ton of fun, thanks to the Philadelphia Water Department, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, PA Fish and Boat Commission, over 130 participants and many wonderful volunteers!
Seasoned anglers and first-timers alike gathered along the sunny riverbank to compete for prizes, including Largest Fish, Smallest Fish and Most Fish Caught between 7 and 11am. Forty-six fish were caught (and released), including several channel catfish, striped bass, bluegill, American eel, American shad, white perch, pumpkinseed, sunfish and red-breast sunfish. In addition to catching fish, participants celebrated the 10th anniversary of Fish Fest in style with face painting and a crazy hat contest!
The prizes, including deluxe tackle boxes and rods from Plano and Dick’s Sporting Goods, were awarded to anglers of all ages and skill levels. Many walked away with a new appreciation for all the Schuylkill has to offer.
